  • Not getting results with autism protocols?

Did you ever wonder why you’re not getting results with autism protocols? Well, most autism protocols are generalized, but every child is biochemically unique, like a snowflake. What works for one may not work for others. So when you see these Instagram influencers saying, Oh, you need to detox, or, You have to do parasite cleanses, and you try it and it doesn’t work, it’s because they’re not talking about really uncovering the root causes and getting tested and seeing what’s going on with this individual because there could be gut microbiome issues, detoxification pathway issues, and nutritional statuses different from one to another.

That’s why root cause testing is a game changer. It allows us to customize and personalize support and protocols. And if you want to understand what is actually going on in your child’s body or the children that you want to work with, if you’re a professional, an ABA therapist, a speech therapist, a feeding therapist, or you want to become a health coach, or you want to apply this for your child, then register today for the autism health coaching certified program because we break down the essential markers of lab testing that we always look at first.

  • What is this training?

Let’s address one of the frequently asked questions about the certified autism health coach training offered at the Total Wellness Empowerment Institute. What exactly is the biomedical and nutritional intervention for autism spectrum disorders and neurodevelopmental disorders? What are you looking at? This training does a deep dive into functional medicine approach.

What does that mean? Getting to the root causes of why someone has symptoms. Did something trigger that? Was there a genetic vulnerability?

Is there metabolic disorders such as methylization?

Is there a problem with certain b vitamins? Is that individual lacking the b vitamins? Is there a detoxification sulfation issues? Are there inborn metabolic disorders?

What about mitochondrial, which is right in the center of all of our cells and that’s the powerhouse for all cells to communicate to one another? We have trillions of cells in our body. If they’re not communicating, there’s gonna be a problem. We also look at oxidative stress.

That’s the metabolic side. Then we look at the immune system. Is there an impairment? Is there a neuroinflammation, allergic vulnerability, autoimmunity, or infections?

Then we look at the adrenal aspect, the HPA dysfunction, and abnormal stress responses. Is this child in a fight or flight mode all the time, and that’s why they can’t relax or focus or stay calm? Then we look at the gut access, the GI impairment. Is that causing inflammation?

Is there a small intestinal bacterial overgrowth? Is there a celiac or non celiac gluten sensitivity? Are there food intolerances, digestive insufficiencies where they don’t have the enzymes to break down certain foods? And that’s why gluten free, dairy free, casein free, soy free, corn free diet helps them.

It takes the veil over them, and it helps them be attentive and focused. Are there sensory dysfunctions and pain reactivity? Is there some type of seizure disorder? What about motor dysfunction with connective tissues and movement disorders?

When we talk about getting to the root cause, we go into deep diving into this because you can be doing speech therapy and behavioral therapy, but if the body is in balance, you’re missing a vital piece to the autism puzzle. And that could be the difference that is preventing the individual to reach their true potential. So if you’re ready to become a certified autism health coach today, sign up at the Total Wellness Empowerment Institute. And we look forward to seeing you be empowered with the knowledge and helping others.

  • Hyposensitivity and Hypersensitivity

Let’s talk about hyposensitivity and hypersensitivity. This is what we look at, the biomedical and nutritional imbalances from functional medicine testing, and we teach this. When you become a certified autism health coach, you may want to do this as a profession, or you may want to start implementing this training for your own child or grandchild. And that’s why the Total Wellness Empowerment Institute offers these certified autism health coach programs. So hyposensitivity is when you have an individual who is seeking out sensory input from jumping, or they like to be hugged, or they squeeze you tightly, or they like to jump off the couch and there’s loud, repetitive noises swinging or crashing into objects and a lack of pain response.

And we see that with certain gut markers from an organic acid test. And then we balance that out and these symptoms go away as opposed to hypersensitivity, which is a heightened sensitivity to input, so they avoid the loud noises. They cover their ears. They don’t like crowded spaces.

Certain smells really trigger them as well as bright flashing lights and their texture of clothing or food. They don’t like sand or walking on grass, so sensory issues do bother them. Also, we look at the gut markers from an organic acid test, and we teach this in the certified autism health coach program. So you can implement for your own child or become a coach and start a practice and help other children as well.

  • Gut Brain Axis Importance

Why is the gut-brain axis so important to research for individuals on the autism spectrum disorder? This is what we deep dive in the Total Wellness Empowerment Institute certified health coach program. And this training is for parents, grandparents, as well as professionals or someone who wants to become a certified health coach. Well, let’s deep dive into this a second.

Gut-brain axis is so important. It is scientifically proven that the two talk to each other. So if there’s a problem in the gut or there’s a problem in the neurons, the communication is now not going to be at its fullest. What could cause or add to this gut-brain miscommunication?

Well, there’s genetic vulnerability, there’s immune dysregulation, sensory processing, behavioral disorders, the gut microbiome or the bacteria on the gut, we need beneficial bacteria, and then there’s pathogenic bacteria that we don’t need. So we have to make sure that’s balanced as well as any GI disorders of bloatedness or if the individual is experiencing constipation or diarrhea, as well as the lack of digestive enzymes and food sensitivities, which is different than food intolerances.

So what you want to do is you wanna really investigate any metabolic, infectious, inflammatory, or genetic imbalances that are in the individual with specialized labs, and you want to use safe, effective, science based protocols that strive to achieve the healthiest outcome and avoid continued inflammation in the body. And by doing so, you can ingrain new neural pathways and allow recovery to take place. We welcome you to become a certified autism health coach today.

  • The ASD Wheel

Let’s discuss the categories of the autism spectrum wheel. There’s a section of social communication and interaction, and another one for restricted and repetitive behaviors. Another section is sensory processing. Another section is cognitive and learning skills, and then there’s the physical and medical needs.

Each piece of this autism spectrum wheel is intertwined with the certified autism health coach training at the Total Wellness Empowerment Institute. Let’s look a little deeper. For social communication and interaction, we’re looking at symptoms such as difficulty initiating, maintaining conversation, lack of interest in interacting with others, alongside difficulty understanding and applying nonverbal communication cues, like understanding and applying nonverbal communication cues like eye contact, facial expressions, and body language. Restrictive and repetitive behaviors include symptoms like needing constant routines, displaying repetitive movements or behaviors, showing intense interest in specific topics or objects, trains or cars or blocks.

Sensory processing. These symptoms include difficult processing sensory, such as loud noises, bright lights, certain textures, difficulty regulating emotions, and challenges with self regulation and self care. The cognitive and learning skills include symptoms related to cognition, learning abilities, difficulty with problem solving, memory, and attention, as well as challenges with learning new things. And the physical and medical needs include self-care, sleep, physical coordination, as well as any medical conditions or challenges related to the autism spectrum disorder.

So what we teach at Total Wellness Empowerment Institute for the certified autism health coach program is that we look at how the body functions across all systems. We look at the gut-brain access, the gut-adrenal access, the gut-immune access, the detoxification, the absorption, the nutrition, as well as the Krebs cycle, the energy cycle, and the mitochondria. And we put this all together, and we do a deep dive into the functional medicine markers that are necessary to show if there are imbalances in the individual, is it going to exacerbate these categories on the autism spectrum wheel. We have parents and grandparents who are in this training, who then start implementing it for their family. And we also have individuals who want a new career path or they’re in behavioral therapy or speech therapy occupations now, and they want to fully understand how they could help the children. If you are ready to make this amazing career choice, then we welcome you, and we look forward to supporting you along your journey.

  • Vital Piece

What is the vital piece to the autism spectrum disorder treatment puzzle? There’s a reason why autism is usually shown as a puzzle piece. There are many pieces to the puzzle. Behavioral and communication therapies, which are central to the autism spectrum disorder treatment, fit seamlessly with functional medicine as they aim to enhance daily functioning and the quality of life for those on the autism spectrum. But beyond those established conventional methods, the functional medicine approach looks into the biomedical and nutritional imbalances of the individual, integrates alternative treatments, and offers considerable potential to improve the well-being and potential capabilities of the individual on the spectrum because we look at the root cause. And it’s really hard to do behavioral and communication therapies if the individual has an imbalance biomedically or nutritional deficiencies.

And you need to look at every piece of the puzzle. So this is why the training that we offer at the Total Wellness Empowerment Institute for the Certified Autism Health Coach is a vital piece to the treatment puzzle of individuals on the spectrum who have neurodevelopmental disorders as well. We look forward to you being empowered with the knowledge to not only help if it’s your family member, but also others in your community with your business and your practice.

  • ASD Nutritional Deficiency

Let’s look at the nutritional deficiencies that are common in individuals diagnosed on the autism spectrum disorder. Research highlights these deficiencies, and you can also do functional medicine testing to determine if the person has these imbalances because then you have a starting point for customized personalized treatment of nutraceuticals as well as nutrients from food. E vitamins is very common to be imbalanced and deficient, and there’s an essential need for methylation, which is a detox process that also helps with neurotransmitter synthesis. Basically, you need these b vitamins for the neurotransmitters and the neurons to actually work together.

Vitamin a, someone is vulnerable to anemia, that could be a genetic vulnerability from their biological parents, or if the individual has weak infection resistance, this would be the need of vitamin a. Vitamin d is essential for bone metabolism, but we see that so many are deficient in vitamin d. That also links to skin issues and immune dysfunction.

What we have noticed are positive results when supplementing with vitamin D of reduced irritability and hyperactivity.

Magnesium actually calms the nervous system and support sleep. We also notice that if children are sensitive to sound and cover their ears a lot, they usually have a magnesium deficiency. And if they are constipated, they usually have a magnesium deficiency.

Studies do show that supplementing with magnesium reduces hyperactivity and aggressiveness and improves school attention. Omega three fatty acids, that deficiency when supplementing it, can help reduce inflammation and help with brain cell communication. Omega three fatty acids helps reduce inflammation and also boost brain cell communications. And studies indicate that supplementing with omega three fatty acids reduces irritability and hyperactivity. Glutathione is required for normal immune function and detoxification.

The thing with glutathione is if the individual has candida overgrowth, you don’t want to give glutathione at the beginning. You want to get rid of the candida, and then you want to supplement with an acetyl cysteine and vitamin c or straight up glutathione. Again, testing really helps decide which way to do that, and we teach that in the certified autism health coach training. Iron is important because it’s a cofactor for enzymes, and we want to look at one’s diet to make sure they’re getting enough iron. Selenium is crucial for thyroid functioning as well as preventing oxidative stress throughout the body, and zinc is critical for metabolism and immunity. It can also help with sleep and helps with behavioral deficits.

So these are some of the nutritional deficiencies that are common with the research in individuals diagnosed with the autism spectrum disorder, and we teach this in the training to create personalized regimens. • Immune Dysfunction

Let’s talk about the signs of immune dysfunction. This is something that we talk about in the Certified Autism Health Coach Training at the Total Wellness Empowerment Institute. So what are some signs of immune dysfunction? Well, some children are better after they have a fever, or some are too sick all the time.

Some never get fevers. Some never get sick. Some lose skills when they have a sickness and some actually have behavioral symptoms when they have acute illness like strep. And that’s what we call PANDAS or PANS depending on the illness if there are behavioral symptoms after it.

So either a child is too sick or never sick, losing skills, or getting behavioral symptoms when they are sick. These are the signs of immune dysfunction, and this is why we deep dive into which functional medicine test would be advantageous for the child. So some signs of immune dysfunction, again, is having more illnesses than a typical child or does not have that fever to fight off illness and then has behavioral issues instead of typical illness symptoms, skill regression, or improvement after they’ve had what we call the fever effect. So you wanna look at the child if the child is in your household, or if you are becoming a health coach or are in the healthcare profession, or if you’re a speech therapist or behavioral therapist, you wanna look at seeing if there’s a pattern of an immune dysfunction.

Does the child rarely get sick or always sick? Is there regression in skill if they’re sick or behavioral issues? And these are signs. And with the biomedical and nutritional intervention taught at the Total Wellness Empowerment Institute for the certified autism health coach training, you will see how you want to put together personalized treatment because every child is different, just like a snowflake.

We look forward to you becoming a certified autism health coach and being the ripple effect for the betterment of the children and adults on the spectrum.
