ASD Sensory Processing

Let’s talk about sensory processing disorder in individuals on the autism spectrum disorder. We teach this in the certified autism health coach training from the Total Wellness Empowerment Institute. Here are some common examples of sensory issues that individuals on the spectrum may experience. Irritation from clothing tags, itchy from certain types of fabric, heightened sensitivity to bright lights bothered by those flashing lights, as well as heightened sensitivity to loud noises, and they cover their ears, overwhelmed by strong smells, increased stress in crowded areas, difficulty focusing in busy places, as well as feeling very panicked in sensory rich spaces, elevated levels of stress with a lack of routine or going the same way when someone is driving them, fidgeting, rigid behavior, and wanting things to stay the same.

What we teach in the certified autism health coach program is that the sensory issues can be exasperated by certain gut brain imbalances. We really wanna look at markers from a functional medicine test that are checking candida and bacteria overgrowth on the GI tract. So there’s so much more when you see symptoms of autism. It can be biomedical and nutritional imbalances, and this is what we teach.

And we welcome you to become a certified autism health coach to help the individuals on the spectrum. Bye now.
